The island of Bali, part of the Indonesian archipelago, has a rich history and ancient culture and religion. Even today, in Balinese villages to attend dances and magic rituals that are the basis of the most ancient beliefs of this fascinating people. For the Balinese, the world of nature is balanced by two opposing forces: the good, favorable to man, and the evil enemy of mankind.

These two forces are the protagonists of the dance, which tells their eternal struggle. The drama is a means of purification and enhances the strength of the village against the negative forces, consisting of the character of the witch Rangda. The positive principle, protector of mankind, is instead represented by Barong, a mystical creature with a cheerful face that can remember different animals.
The form chosen by the artist depicts Fabrizio Galli Barong lion in his version, which is particularly spectacular and impressive. The mask is used in performances of Balinese villages that begins with the arrival on the scene of Barong, walking and rolling smacks her cheeks at the sound of the instrument called the "gamelan".
After the Barong dance, all silent. From behind the gate of the temple appear sharp claws that prepare horrendous vision of Rangda. The two clash in a battle of magic and Barong protects men from the witch and her spells. Barong is a spiritual symbol of virtue and acts in the show as a protector of humanity.
